Mondrian Los Angeles
In 2008, on the Sunset Strip, in the heart of West Hollywood, Morgans Hotel Group re-introduced a bold new Mondrian hotel. Mondrian SoHo
Situated in the midst of lower Manhattan's coveted SoHo neighborhood, Mondrian Soho takes its place among a-list residents, fashionable and picturesque streets, charm and energy. Benjamin Noriega Ortiz’ romantic, provocative design draws inspiration from Jean Cocteau's 1946 French fantasy film "La Belle et la Bête.” Guests enter the Mondrian Soho hotel through a lush green garden topiary facade and drift into a gentle and seductive world of powdery French blues that unify a series of seating vignettes over a pale oak floor. The feeling is casual yet sophisticated, whimsical and slightly mesmerizing. Saturated blue corridors with custom carpets adorned with a rose vine design provide passage to 270 elegant jewel-box rooms and suites. Located just off the lobby and inspired by the Mediterranean coast, Italian restaurant Isola Trattoria & Crudo Bar is helmed by native Sicilian Victor LaPlaca, who has crafted a menu offering high quality, simply prepared items featuring seasonal ingredients. Presented with casual elegance within a spectacular 5,000-square-foot greenhouse space, the dramatic room includes a hanging glass sculpture by contemporary artist Beth Lipman, overflowing greenery and opulent crystal fixtures. Mister H, discretely located within Mondrian SoHo is a visionary nightlife space inspired by old New York, Soho’s neighboring Chinatown surroundings, and the willful wit of a fictional man. The Feng Shui design, eclectic accents and a cool collection of Chinese furniture lends a clever nod to the neighborhood in a distinct and signature Morgans Hotel Group fashion.
Morgans
Morgans is the hotel that changed all the rules. From the moment it opened its doors on Madison Avenue in New York, it startled the world with a convention shattering attitude and distinctive design sensibility. This grand experiment in style was concocted by legendary designer Andree Putman whose projects have ranged from the Guggenheim Museum to Peter Greenaway movie sets. In 2008, Morgans unveiled Andree Putman’s new vision for Morgans, a bold reinterpretation that propels Morgans’ style and spirit forward without changing its unique character. Each of the 117 comfortable guest rooms in this luxury New York hotel offers a peaceful antidote to the adrenaline infused pace of New York City. During Winter 2013, Morgans will premier Reserve, a new lounge space serving its renowned continental breakfast and specialty cocktails and lite bites in the evening.
